Week 4 Complete

After Week 4 has come to an end I can confidently say the course is starting to pick up. (Along with all other courses.) We have just got into and gone over the topic of recursion which I find to be very interesting. I can definitely see how recursion is going to be used in my programming in the future. It seems to also be a milestone for programming swell, as it lets you to tackle some unique problems with ease. Although we have gone over it in class I still don't feel completely comfortable with the concept yet, especially for bigger and more complex pieces of code. But my understanding is fine for short recursion examples such as  fibonacci sequence. Until next week.

Week 3 - Object Orientation

I believe Object Oriented Programming (OOP) to be a real milestone for all of software development.  In CSC148 we will be exploring the different techniques in utilizing this game changing tool in order to become more contemporary programmers. Python is one of many programming languages that has the object orientation flavour. With OOP we now see the combination of data and functionality. This allows us to navigate and process larger and more complex types of data while still keeping things clean.

To dig deeper we now face things like classes which are like houses for methods, class variable and instance variables. We can use these new features to take in data, then process it, finally output it in a more efficient way. This makes the code far more malleable because natural sections have been made for the easy of use, visuals, and replication. One clear advantage of OOP is the ability for a programmer to create and new data type that is need by that person for their task, no matter if it is defined in the language already or not.

To conclude, we can see how beneficial OOP really is to the future of software development. I look forward to learning more about the techniques to further my knowledge and become a better programmer in the end.
